Before you download
What if the product isn't in the database?
You'll get a prompt to add it — snap the ingredient panel and it goes into the queue. Hungarian and regional store brands are exactly where this helps most, so those submissions get processed first.
How is the score calculated?
Ingredients are checked against EU labelling and restriction data, and the score reflects how many flagged entries a product carries and how serious each one is. You can always open the breakdown and see which ingredient cost what.
Is this medical or safety advice?
No. LabelLens explains what an ingredient is and what the EU rules say about it. It doesn't diagnose anything or tell you what's safe for you personally. If you're managing an allergy or a medical condition, treat the score as a starting point and check with your doctor or pharmacist.
Does it work outside Hungary?
Yes. EAN barcodes and EU ingredient labelling are the same across the single market, so European products scan fine wherever you are. Coverage is deepest for products sold in Hungary and the surrounding region.
